Performance
Honorarium Requirements
 Why
an honorarium requirement? Well, that's because one of the
ways Bill Mallia eats and pays bills is with the money he makes
writing and performing music (in other words, this is not a
hobby). Stack on expenses such as the cost of hiring the
players in the band, travel, time and you can quickly understand
that if the Bill Mallia music effort is going to stay in
business, fair compensation is going to be required.
Having said
this, a Bill Mallia
performance at your event is still very affordable. There are two ways
to compensate for the performance:
Standard North America-Wide Option - Flat Fee:
Book the
Bill Mallia & The Gulf Stream Band, sound, lights - everything you need for a full
feature event or keep it simple with a “Bill Mallia” solo
performance. Request
your own custom quote tailored to your event and location now!
The New England Christian
Coffeehouses/Cafe Option - An Offering:
This is a
home-base special. In an effort support local Christian
coffeehouses/cafes with their ministries, Bill Mallia is
prepared to offer his musical performance at a financial loss,
but does ask for some basic help from the event to defray some
expenses.
To this
extent, qualified venues may opt to collect an offering (see
chart below) rather than pay a set fee for the entertainment. This is an
easy way to allow those enjoying and benefiting from the event
to show their appreciation. Note that this option is
only offered to Northeast Christian coffeehouses/cafe's and not offered to
any (regardless of location) church concert events, camps,
festivals, colleges, etc.
Please contact us if
you are unsure if your event qualifies for this option.
Unless,
otherwise agreed, the band requires a minimum base
expense-offset gratuity in
this option. The base rate is calculated off the distance
from our home-base, Plymouth, Massachusetts (02360).

How To Compensate A Christian Musical Artist
(And What The Bible Says
About It)
During a financial negotiation
between a Christian musician and a church pastor, the pastor
remarked, "You want to be paid for your show? Why?
All you have to do is sing?". The musician agreed and
said, "You are right...and on Sunday, all you have do is
talk".
It's
paradoxical that the unsaved will pay gobs of beer soaked
cash to have someone sing to them while they get drunk.
However, ask many Christians to pay for Godly entertainment and
they run away as if you offered to set their hair on fire!
Let's see what the Owners Manual (aka the Bible) has to say
about the subject.

"1 Corinthians 9 -
4Don't we have the
right to live in your homes and share your meals?
5Don't we have the
right to bring a Christian wife along with us as the other
disciples and the Lord's brothers and Peter do?
6Or is it only
Barnabas and I who have to work to support ourselves?
7What soldier has to
pay his own expenses? And have you ever heard of a farmer who
harvests his crop and doesn't have the right to eat some of it?
What shepherd takes care of a flock of sheep and isn't allowed
to drink some of the milk? 8And
this isn't merely human opinion. Doesn't God's law say the same
thing? 9For the law
of Moses says, "Do not keep an ox from eating as it treads out
the grain." Do you suppose God was thinking only about oxen when
he said this? 10Wasn't
he also speaking to us? Of course he was. Just as farm workers
who plow fields and thresh the grain expect a share of the
harvest, Christian workers should be paid by those they serve." |
